I’ve never been much of one for New Year’s Resolutions; I’ve always felt that if I had to make a resolution to get something done, it probably isn’t going to get done anyway. If I was, though, one thing I would resolve to do (along with posting more frequently on this site) is to spend more time wandering around Fort Wayne with a camera. Those who’ve spent much time with me know that complaining about this city is one of my favorite pastimes, but it’s not completely without its charms…

Yes, I know, it’s a sunset picture and therefore cliché. So sue me.

I like this photo, but it’s a pretty good illustration of the problems with displaying photos on the web. The small size has pretty much destroyed the fine detail in the leaves, and the colors are off in every browser I’ve tried except Safari on the Mac. All the rest render the picture sort of cold and dark, when it’s supposed to be warm and leafy green. *sigh*

Maybe I’ll have better luck with an 8×10 print…

I was browsing back through my library of photos, and I came across this one of a climber on the side of Devil’s Tower. I really like it, for a number of reasons, but I’m finding that it really suffers from being downscaled to a measly 800px wide for web display. So I’ve linked to a (much) larger version below for those that have a large enough monitor to view it. Be warned, though, that the larger one is the thick end of a megabyte, so it may take a while for those on dialup to download…
